George and the Dragon is a 2004 movie directed by Tom Reeve, starring James Purefoy, Piper Perabo and Patrick Swayze with the guest appearance of Michael Clarke Duncan and Val Kilmer (which awkwardly is uncredited).
At its core, it is a light-hearted adventure: a princess that is taught to have been kidnapped by a dragon, a hero that goes to rescue her and finds himself escorting a strong female protagonist and the last dragon egg in existence. There are some other minor details to the story, but nothing that strays too far from that.
The general tone of the movie reminds me of DragonHeart, a fantastic movie that came out a few years prior and shares a similar view of benevolence towards creatures that otherwise are depicted as feral beasts and frightening adversaries. Although I did write something about DragonHeart, you will have to wait for that article as it seems I have not found the right moment to publish it yet.
The movie did not age perfectly considering special effects that were not that great; what it lacks in CGI however it compensates with the raw talent of the actors involved, as well as with a modicum of good writing.
I have little less to add except for the fact that for sure it is one of those movie that has passed unnoticed under the radars.
I would give this movie a 6 out of 10 not-quite-Easter-eggs.
